Popular well beyond the borders of its native Andalusia, flamenco has fascinated a wide audience for years, outside of any specific cultural reference. There is a kind of magic that infuses the grand moments of flamenco, where it’s as if a spirit takes over the performers and grabs hold of their bodies, voices and souls, in a sort of trance that the audience is inexorably called upon to share. This instant of grace is what aficionados call duende, a word that could be translated as “imp”, which does well to evoke the unique and enchanting nature of Flamenco.

With its ingredients, which include cante (song), baile (dance), toque (guitar) and palmas (clapping), flamenco expression does not stop evolving with each successive generation, while still respecting the principal structures of the music. Siguiriyas, soleares, bulerias, alegrias, fandangos, tientos or tangos…the many forms that an artist must master also serve as the building blocks for endlessly renewed creativity. The invited artists promise to produce this in an incredible demonstration.
